Yes, finally google has allowed for IMAP! You can now retrieve your Gmail messages with a client or device that supports IMAP, like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail.
Note: That it won't be available for all users yet, but should appear soon.
Client Information
Host Name: imap.gmail.com
User Name: Your full Gmail address, including '@gmail.com'
Incoming Settings
Use SSL: ON
Authentication: password
Server Port: 993
Outgoing Settings
Use SSL: ON
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 587
How to enable IMAP on your GMAIL account
1. Log in to your Gmail account.
2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
3. Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
4. Select Enable IMAP.
5. Click Save Changes.
